Forging a Strategic Real Estate Alliance Between CIEE and the University of Maine
DBI Projects, CIEE’s corporate real estate asset manager and consultant, successfully executed a transaction with the University of Maine System for the lease of its former headquarters in Portland.
The building will now serve as the campus for the University of Maine School of Law, providing law students with a more integrated campus life in Portland’s most vibrant neighborhood. Having led the marketing and execution of the new lease, DBI was instrumental in bringing together our client and the university to structure a mutually-beneficial transaction.
Located in the heart of the Old Port district, near the waterfront, 300 Fore Street is one of Downtown Portland’s most notable office buildings with its emblematic green-tinted glassy façade. The building has served as CIEE’s worldwide corporate headquarters since 2007, boasting over 55,000 square feet in office space, 5 stories and amenities including a fitness center, locker rooms and a bike room.
The deal follows the successful sale-leaseback of CIEE’s G27 campus in Berlin, Germany and builds on DBI’s efforts to help CIEE creatively reposition their real estate assets around the world. While other study abroad organizations have continued to struggle amidst the temporary pause in programming, DBI’s expertise and nimbleness has put CIEE well ahead of the pack and in a strong position as the industry recovers.
