Building Texas: Bryce Beckwith Grows DBI Projects in the Lone Star State
Senior Project Manager Bryce Beckwith is expanding DBI Projects' reach in the Southwest.
872,000 people moved to Texas in 2023 according to the United States Census Bureau, outpacing every other state in the country. Much of this growth was domestic migration to Texas from other states, with California, Florida, and New York listed as those sending the most people to the Lone Star State. Senior Project Manager Bryce Beckwith was amongst the pipeline of those heading south to seize the opportunity that Texas presents to all that come.
During the pandemic, Bryce watched how so many flocked to Texas and found himself intrigued.
“I have family and friends in Texas, so the idea of being in a place that feels both different and familiar was exciting, and presented an opportunity to be a contributing part of the influx both personally and professionally.” Bryce said.
He was both relieved and empowered to find that when he discussed the idea of Texas with DBI Projects, the company was equally interested in establishing an outpost to expand its services in the Texas market. DBI Projects is celebrating its 23rd year of guiding clients across the United States and internationally through various challenges in the real estate process, and – given the state’s economic and cultural growth of the last few years – the firm saw a need for its unique approach to owner’s representation and real estate advisory services in the local marketplace. They knew finding great success wouldn’t happen overnight, though.
“We knew enough not to get too married to ideals or expectations,” Bryce said, “So, since Day 1, a primary goal for DBI Projects Texas has been to build relationships and develop a perspective for how to best apply DBI’s strengths and processes to local Texas markets.”
Bryce’s work has included leading pre-development for energy company Amogy’s new advanced manufacturing facility in Houston, overseeing the ground-up construction of Leadership Prep School’s new campus in Frisco, a real estate advisory role for a new high school in Houston, the development of Brillante Academy’s campus in the Rio Grande Valley, amongst others. Bryce believes that the ability to pick up and adapt to the local complexities of each municipality is an area where DBI has excelled so far in Texas.
“Each jurisdiction has its own nuances when it comes to permitting and navigating the real estate and building industry on a local level,” Bryce said. “And given that DBI is extremely experienced in leading every facet of the real estate process across all different geographies, nationally and internationally, I find that we’re contextually sensitive and well equipped to solve the unique challenges presented by each project and their locality.”
This skill to adapt and apply has translated into success for Bryce and his clients, leading to DBI Projects Texas’s reputation as a team of problem solvers steering challenging projects to successful outcomes.
“Most of our work is coming from one, two, or three degrees of separation – clients and collaborators vouching for our services to their colleagues and friends, who do the same to theirs, and so on,” Bryce said, “And at the end of the day that’s how you know you’ve done a good job for a client, when they feel so strongly and are that impressed, that they are willing to entrust their own valued relationships in your hands.”
Bryce has been with DBI Projects since 2017, taking over as Head of DBI Projects Texas in 2023. In his role as Head of DBI Projects Texas, Bryce leads project development in Texas and the Southwest US.
