69 A Street Office

As the first building in the U.S. to incorporate cross-laminated timber into a renovation and expansion, 69 A Street in South Boston is one of DBI Projects’ most unique redevelopment projects.

With a brick-and-timber façade that marries the building’s 120-year-old history to one of the most innovative building techniques in use today, 69 A Street stands as an example of how historic buildings can be expanded and transformed without cost-prohibitive foundation modifications.

DBI served as the project’s OPM and managed the renovation and expansion on behalf of our client, the Council for International Educational Exchange. Following the site search and acquisition of the building, our team oversaw the design and construction process. This included leading an exhaustive vendor procurement process and managing the complex entitlements process in Boston.
