Construction Begins on the New Arts Center Lake Placid

September 23, 2025

Almost three years ago to the day, we met the leadership team of the Lake Placid Center for the Arts and discussed how an initial feasibility and capacity study could become a re-envisioned campus for the 50-year-old organization.

Yesterday, we joined the Center, New York State Council on the Arts, local officials, and members of the Adirondack community in celebrating the groundbreaking of the future Arts Center Lake Placid.

“The groundbreaking for the renovation of the Theatre Building marks the start of a major transformation for our region. With this project, the Arts Center’s status as a hub for culture and creativity will be stronger than ever. I can’t wait to see this project when it’s completed,” said State Senator Dan Stec at the ceremony.

We began the process by leading a 10-week charrette to capture the Center’s vision and goals. We oversaw the full design process and guided the Center in its application for funding from the New York State Council on the Arts, ultimately securing $7.5 million in public funding for the transformational project.

The vision for a new modern, accessible, and sustainable facility was created in collaboration with Marvel, Charcoalblue, Allegrone Companies, A.D. Hamingson & Associates, Loring Consulting Engineers, McLaren Engineerings Group, CodeGreen, and CCI. The plan transforms the organization’s existing inefficient structure to expand performance space, enhance programming capabilities, and improve visitor experience and accessibility.

Next up: construction.
