DBI Projects Supports CIEE To Reopen Academic Facilities in Paris

October 5, 2023

The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), the oldest and largest nonprofit organization for study abroad and intercultural exchange in the U.S., partnered with DBI Projects to establish a new home for their Paris program.

The new CIEE Paris, which began welcoming students this fall, will enable CIEE to accommodate the resurgence in student enrollment as study abroad participation rebounds after the disruptions caused by COVID-19.

DBI negotiated the exit from the old CIEE Paris home in 2020 and secured a temporary space to accommodate a sudden surge in student numbers at the end of 2021. Following the successful setup of this temporary facility, DBI embarked on the task of finding a permanent location that best suited the needs of the planned CIEE Paris program. DBI assisted CIEE in identifying and articulating the program’s specific requirements, engaged with and managed local brokers specializing in educational properties, and assessed the potential options on behalf of the client. The search ultimately led to the identification of two preferred sites, for which DBI further evaluated by conducting a feasibility analysis including financially and programmatically. Upon selection of the winning site, DBI led lease negotiations on behalf of CIEE to secure the location.

DBI managed the capital project required to accommodate CIEE’s program. DBI assembled a local team including design team and general contractors as well as local vendors for FF&E and IT/AV requirements. The project was successfully completed on time and under budget.

After a turbulent period for study abroad programs worldwide, we are delighted to witness students occupying and enjoying their educational experience in Paris!

We extend our gratitude to the local project team members who played pivotal roles in the project’s completion: Elevare, Sogno Architecture, and Francergo.
