The Fessenden School Celebrates the Topping Off of its new Dining Facility

January 8, 2026

The Fessenden School counts among its alumni notable figures like Secretary of State John Kerry, the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy, and beloved actor Christopher Lloyd. Now, the Massachusetts boarding school is getting a brand-new dining facility, where the next generation of artistic, civic, and business leaders will come together as one thriving school community. DBI Projects was on campus last month to celebrate the topping off of this major campus upgrade.

The 19,000-sf dining hall incorporates innovative mass timber construction solutions, high performance mechanical systems and an all-electric kitchen. The new building blends flexible and green building design elements with the Fessenden’s historic architectural palette. Both the interior and exterior pay homage to longstanding school traditions, focusing on community and family-style dining, while meeting Fessenden’s sustainability goals.

“This project is a significant priority for the school and is going to support Fessenden students for generations to come,” Mike Grossman, COO of The Fessenden School, said at the ceremony commemorating the building’s topping off. He continued his remarks by thanking the project team and all trades involved for their willingness to work through challenges collaboratively.

As the development’s owner’s project manager, DBI Projects was honored to be in attendance and celebrate this ambitious project.
