Heading to SCUP’s North Atlantic Conference? Join our session ‘Pace University’s 15 Beekman: Vertical Campuses in Dense Urban Environments’

This year’s Society of College and University Planning (SCUP) North Atlantic Conference will take place in Boston from March 24 to 26. We are excited to be sharing the stage with Pace University and Architecture Research Office to discuss the financing, planning, construction, and recent occupation of this new 26-story tower in Lower Manhattan.

Session Details:

Monday, March 25 | 8:20 am–9:20 am

In dense, urban environments where space is at a premium, universities are using vertical campuses to rethink traditional approaches to programming. The ‘tower’ typology has the potential to solve space challenges, creating resilient and efficient campuses that enrich the student experience. Using Pace University’s new 15 Beekman mixed-use tower, we’ll explore the challenges and opportunities of vertical campuses, including discussions around creating equitable and welcoming spaces, student housing, and strategic and master planning. This session will address development options, strategic partnership structures, innovative approaches to programming, growth opportunities, and how to leverage design elements to emphasize connection to place in dense urban campuses.

Presenters:

Ofer Ohad, Managing Partner, DBI Projects | Ibi Yolas, Vice President, University Facilities and Capital Projects, Pace University-New York | Adam Yarinsky, Principal, Architecture Research Office | Kai Pedersen, Project Director, Architecture Research Office

We hope to see you in Boston.
